Lead Data Engineer

I’m currently recruiting for a lead data engineer, based in Galway. Focus on hybrid working.This is an intial 3 month contract.

About the Role

• Lead the design and delivery of a modern Fabric-first data platform, combining hands-on engineering with technical leadership.
• Architect scalable data solutions, establish engineering standards, and mentor team members through best practices and code reviews.

Requirements

• Experience delivering enterprise-scale data engineering solutions using Azure technologies, SQL, Python, and Spark.
• Proven expertise designing and building scalable ETL/ELT pipelines, data platforms, and analytics-ready data models.
• Strong knowledge of DevOps practices, CI/CD, data governance, security, and stakeholder collaboration.

Desirable Experience

• Hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric, Azure Synapse, or modern lakehouse architectures.
• Experience leading platform migrations, introducing new data technologies.
• Familiarity with Power BI and working alongside analytics, AI, or machine learning teams.
